What a GREAT Weekend!

Just a few pictures I wanted to share with everyone. And I wanted to take a minute to thank you all for making the scrapbook retreat a wonderful, wonderful event. I had a blast and I hope you all did, too! Enjoy the pictures...

Here are some early arrivers. Already hard at work. But don't be deceived... they were having a blast!!! Debbie, aren't you glad you changed your mind at the last minute? You know you couldn't miss hanging out with all of us for a long weekend!Ok, I can't even believe I was up this late Thursday night. Oh, that's right, I was in bed and asleep by 9pm Wednesday night and I was ready to party!!! Jeanne, Sheri, Debbie and Keli... LADIES... you are ALL crazy!!!
Ok, Vickie. I hope you are proud of yourself. You outbid our friend Lyla and took that bag right out of her hands! And she SO thought she was going to win that one! It really is a pretty bag! Maybe next time, Lyla!
Michelle is so intent on working on whatever that is she is working on. HEY, WOMAN... congratulations on winning the layout contest Saturday night! WOOHOO, MICHELLE!!!!
Ok, Julie, what ARE you doing? Marcy is wondering the same thing!
WHY do we have to travel with SO much stuff! WHY??? Because we are afraid we will need that one button that in there SOMEWHERE!!!
Ok, Jeannine and Tanya... Fess up... ARE you sisters or not? Jeannine, was this your first retreat or NOT? Tanya, great pages, but GIVE UP STEALING!!!
Anyone hungry? Was anyone EVER hungry this weekend? If you were, that would definitely be your OWN fault!
I think if I were to have one more piece of ANYTHING from this table, I would absolutely POP!
Tysha was on the phone with that sweet little boy of hers. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I couldn't help it. Brought a tear to my eye and gave me goosebumps!
Nope, you didn't see any pictures of Janet in here. She was the one who had a hot date EVERY NIGHT with that fantastic husband of hers!

I hope everyone had half as good a time as I did. I hope everyone had a save trip home. I hope everyone got the stuff out of their cars okay and I hope you will get it unpacked at your own leisure! Until next time.... Happy Scrapping, everyone!

I can't believe day after tomorrow at this time, the room should be all set up and I hope to be all ready for you all to start showing up on Thursday! WOOHOO!!!! Off to do some laundry, watch Dancing with the Stars and finish up printing some things for the weekend. Talk to you all soon!

Are You Ready?

I know I am! I need a getaway so badly! And how much fun to have one with a bunch of scrapbookers!!!!

As I got out of bed this morning, bedhead and all, I stumbled into my living room, grabbing a cup of coffee along the way and sat down at my computer. I looked over to my dining table and reality hit me... as I saw all of the boxes and bags and "retreat stuff" all neatly packed and stacked on and around the table, it really hit me... IT'S THIS WEEK! All of this planning and preparing is about to come to fruition! And I really realized... I AM SO READY!

I also thought of something else... this is mainly for you REPEAT RETREATERS... at least those who were at my retreat last fall at Heit's Point. We were so nice and secluded there. No one else around except the cooks and Delbert. So, we were able to do exactly what I did this morning... get out of bed, bedhead and all, stumbled to my computer and ALL IN MY PJ'S!

Now, I'm not saying you CAN'T wear your PJ's all day... oh, no... you do what you want... I'm just saying... we will be in a HOTEL in BRANSON this time. The odds that there will be people around are pretty high! Almost guaranteed! SO... all I'm saying is... keep that in mind! We may even have to share the conference center with someone... It's huge and we are using less than half of it!

SO... dress as you want... I don't care. Just don't be SHOCKED if you run into people out and about! WE WILL NOT BE ALONE!!!!

And one last thing... since we are SO close, there will be no more CROP CASH opportunities here or by email... we are WAY to close to try to keep up with it. HOWEVER... there will be many, many CROP CASH opportunites starting at 1 pm on Thursday and going throughout the retreat... at least right up to the last auction at 7pm on Saturday!

I hope you all have enjoyed the CROP CASH opportunity fun! I hope it's kept everyone engaged and excited.

Keep watching this blog as I may still post here. Be safe in your travels, call or email me if you have any last minute questions and I will see you all in a couple of days!

Drop and Swap Table

Several of you have asked about this and I just keep forgetting to mention it... YES, we WILL have a drop and swap table. Bring your unwanted scrapbook items and leave it on the DROP AND SWAP Table and help yourself to anything that is there. It's amazing how one man's junk is another's treasure! Be sure to check back often... you never know WHO will drop WHAT and WHEN!

Snacks for CROP CASH

I am sending this out through my regular email… through my fancy, pretty email and on this blog! Hopefully it will reach everyone!!! Please check with your crop buddies and help pass the word and ask everyone to respond. Either by email… group email or on the blog!

When I asked before, I got a lot of something from each category responses. If you responded like that or similar, can you be a little more specific now that we are a little close? As I get responses, I will post them on the blog so everyone will know what we’ve got coming and what can be filled in. Just FYI… for both lunches and dinners, sweet tea is being delivered from the caterer, so I’m guessing we’ll have a lot of tea!

Also, I plan to get coffee going as early as I get in the room... which will open by 6:30am… HOWEVER, if you HAVE to have coffee before then, the rooms do have coffee makers, so you may have to make your first cup in your room!

Oh… AND… BREAKING NEWS…. The hotel has agreed to keep the crop room open until 2AM!!!! That’s 2 o’clock in the morning!!! MUCH better than the 10 pm it started out being and somewhat better than MIDNIGHT! And in case anyone is wondering… NO… you can’t be locked IN! Sorry.

Please respond to me about the snacks as soon as you know so I can get stuff posted. If you truly don’t know what you are going to be and you won’t know until next Wednesday, that’s fine, just let me know. We’ll work something out!!!

See you all next week!

I wanted to let everyone know that there is free wi-fi at the hotel and in the crop room. That's all for now!

Ok... I'm feeling kind of lonely here.... Posting a comment here will earn you $100 in CROP CASH!!!! (only one qualifying entry per person, please!)

Do you all realize we are only a week away! WOOHOO!!!

Just Got Back from the Hotel

and the bill is paid! We are having a SCRAPBOOK RETREAT!

It's funny how, even with all of the planning and preparing, it's not until you pay the bill, that you realize, I mean, REALLY realize, it's getting SO CLOSE! And it's also funny how you THINK you know answers but you don't always!

But, I think I've got everything lined out, and depending on how it goes, I have even tentatively booked a 2010 SPRING Scrapbook Retreat! I know... I know... you don't even want to think about that, but I HAVE to! So, the dates are April 15, 16, 17 and 18... exactly 6 months from this one. Cool!

Anyway... here is what I've got for now...

When you get there, go to the front desk. You will pick up your keys and they'll tell you if your room is ready. We are listed under the group name "SCRAPBOOKERS". There should be NO CHARGES waiting for you... the bill is PAID IN FULL as of today!

Check-in to the hotel is 3:00. But if you get there early and the rooms are ready, they will check you in. PLUS, if you get there early, the CROP ROOM will be ready! The CROP ROOM is going to be available from 6:30 am to midnight --- I am diligently working with the hotel, and I think I may almost have them convinced to leave it open til 2am... I'm working on it!

I plan to be down there Wednesday to make sure everything is going to be ready to go on Thursday -- no Thursday arrivals earlier than 1:00 pm, please!

For the coffee drinkers, I am pleased to announce there is a coffee maker in the kitchen and several carafes and we can keep it going as long as we want! There is also an unlimited supply of ice. We are going to have a separate, yet joined, eating area, that will double as a classroom -- for Cricut classes and anything else we may come up with!

Floor electrical outlets are not as plentiful as I was told, so, if you bring anything that needs to be plugged in, try to remember to also bring an extension cord. I have duct tape on my list of things to bring, so, I think we will be fine.

If you have any questions or special needs, please do NOT hesitate to email me. I want everyone to enjoy this time and if I can help in any way, I will.

Menu is Done!

Ok... I am getting pretty excited! We are now just 3 weeks away! And I just turned in our menu to the caterer! Wanna know what we're having? Keep reading!

Our Retreat Blog has been quite busy! But, I don't think everyone checks it, so from this point on, I am going to be sure to send anything really important by email, too!

Couple of things to know (actually, I am just thinking out loud!)
  • Coffee available all day (as long as we have coffee drinkers!)
  • Also available, sugar, sugar substitute and packaged plain creamer, so if you are a coffee drinker and you want flavored creamer, be sure and bring your own.
  • Iced tea, unsweetened and sugar-free sweetened, available all day.
  • Plates, silverware, cups, glasses, ice, napkins, paper towels, salt and pepper (if you think of anything I've missed, regarding the eating area, let me know... PLEASE!)
  • I will have a large coffee pot and carafes to keep it hot
  • Unlimited ice
  • There is a full kitchen available, which is right next to our crop room
  • (what am I missing????)
Here is the menu I have turned in to the caterer. I know there is no way to please everyone, so I hope you can find something you'll enjoy! (everything is home-cooked... no instant mashed potatoes for us!)

If you are registered to arrive on Thursday, please wait until 1pm so the hotel will have enough time to get the room set up. If you have registered for the 2-night package and you'd like to get there before 1:00 on Friday, you are certainly welcome to do so. And if you'd like to include lunch, just let me know and for $6.00, I can add you on to the list. AND, if your plans change and you'd like to add another night, I still have time to do that. Just give me a call or send me an email. I have turned preliminary numbers in, but I can change those up to the Friday before our retreat.

Everything will be served buffet style and there will be a separate eating area from your scrapbooking area. This area will be open and available through the entire event. It is in the same room.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 am,

Lunch will be served at noon, and
Dinner will be served at 5:00 pm.

I am the busboy, so any help will be appreciated!!!

I'm Off on Vacation!

It's not Friday, but it's close! And for me, it's VERY close because I am heading out this afternoon for my vacation! Staycation... Playcation... I'm not even sure what to call it these days. I'm just traveling around Kansas and Oklahoma with my daughter and 9 month old grandson. We are going to explore Wichita and Tulsa and visit lots of family. I think it will be fun.

Did you get my email about my Close to My Heart Open House on Saturday, September 19th? Did you notice you can earn $200 in CROP CASH just for showing up!!! It's WAY at the bottom of the email, but I thought I'd give you a heads up in case you are out and about that day! Plus, if you've never seen Close to My Heart products, it will give you a great opportunity to do so.

So... if you didn't get the email and need details and a map, let me know! And I'll get that to you... but probably not until after I get back next week. Talk to you all later!!!

Friday Crop Cash!

I have SO been called out! And you all have Brenda to thank for this! I completely forgot I promised CROP CASH today! And Brenda just reminded me! WOOHOO Brenda!!! I think that earns HER $50 right off the bat!!!!

Let's see.... what creative thing can I come up with to earn some CROP CASH today??? hmmmmmm... How about this....

Every single person who leaves me a comment on this blog entry and tells me what they plan to get done at the retreat will earn $100 in CROP CASH! I'm not going to hold you to it or anything crazy like that, it's just something to get you to thinking about what you need to plan for. If you plan to work on and finish a Wedding Album or Eat and Shop the entire time, that's fine with me! It's your time and your day and your retreat to do what you want!

I really can't WAIT until October!

Thanks, Brenda, for keeping me on my toes!

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Last night I got all of the name tags done! I'm taking inventory of prizes tonight. The thing about doing this stuff this early is that I can just add more cool stuff the closer we get! If I were to wait until the last minute, I wouldn't have time to do that. Hmmm... is that good or bad???

Sometime this week, I will be working on the menu. mmmmm.... food! So many choices! I've also got to get with Sheri at the ScrapNook and get her all lined out. You never know what that crazy woman is going to do! Or bring! But one thing you CAN be sure of is she will have a packed store there!!!

I suppose I should focus on my Close to My Heart Open House in September! You are all invited! I haven't sent out those invites just yet, so be watching your email. Saturday, September 19th, 1pm to 4pm. Plan to be there! You never know what I'll have in my "front room sale"!

Nope... no CROP CASH today! But, I'd say you better check back by about Friday! (hint, hint!)

Saturday, August 22, 2009

We had a blast in Tulsa at the CK Convention. I even picked up a few things for the retreat.... WOOOHOOO!!! PLUS, I ran across this scrapbook saying and fell in love with it. Even though I was exhausted from the trip yesterday, my sister and I got the Cricut humming and cut this out of vinyl and got it up on the wall tonight. I love it! It's at my backdoor and right where we have our monthly crops. Doesn't it just say it all!

I am trying to decide if I want something on the sides. here is a pic stepping back a bit. What do you think? Some swirly thing... some smaller words... nothing... leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

CROP CASH - What is it?

I am so thrilled that as of yesterday, we have 25 croppers! WOOHOO! Do you have any idea how much fun we are going to have?

Well, some of you do, because I have REPEAT CROPPERS!!!

These ladies attended my retreat last fall at Heit's Point and know what I'm talking about! I'm going to have to do something special for you all who fall into this category.... I'm thinking.... CROP CASH!

That's it! REPEAT CROPPERS will get $200 in CROP CASH!!!!
(You just have to email me (jmpurves@mchsi.com) and say....
"I'm a REPEAT CROPPER and I want my $200 CROP CASH!")

I know those ladies know how to do that but you FIRST TIME CROPPERS (those who have NOT attended a retreat of mine) have NO IDEA what I'm talking about!

What IS CROP CASH and how do I GET MORE? I'm glad you asked!

What is CROP CASH?
  • It's play/paper money you earn playing along with my requests. You never know what I'll ask or where you'll find it.
  • It has NO monetary value
  • It can't be redeemed for cash, can only used to bid on Auction Items at THIS retreat and all unused CROP CASH has to be surrendered... to ME... at the end of the retreat for use at the NEXT retreat!
How do I Earn/Get CROP CASH?
  • Simply watch your emails and follow my instructions! (I will start the CROP CASH fun around 9/1) Here are some examples of what we asked for LAST time...
  1. Respond to an email
  2. Trivia questions
  3. Bringing snacks/drinks, etc, based on specific guidelines
  4. Leaving a comment on a specified blog
  • You get the idea... you just never know what I'll be asking for!
  • Check this BLOG periodically
  • Figure out how to leave COMMENTS on this blog as you MAY be asked to periodically.
CROP CASH is fun but is totally optional! Just remember, this is how I give away prizes... no boring drawings at MY retreats!!!

I so wish it was October! But sometimes, getting there is half the fun! At least that's my PLAN!

By the way... and this is FOR REAL.... This is what CROP CASH looks like... (and don't worry that it says Heit's Point... we're recycling!)

And you can claim $100 in CROP CASH by emailing me at scrapbookretreat2009@gmail.com. Yep... I changed the email address and this is going to help me figure out how well it works! Just be sure and put CROP CASH in your subject line and say.... "I want my $100 in CROP CASH!" OOOOHHHH.... NOW, the FUN begins!!!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Happy Scrappin' Fall Retreat blog... This year, we are in Branson at the Cobblestone Inn and Convention Center from October 15th, thru October 18th, and we are hoping you can join us! All of the details on the Retreat can be found over to the left side of this ongoing blog.

This is going to be one fun retreat... but as they say, "getting there" is HALF the fun! In this case, the "getting there" includes earning CROP CASH!!!

Some of you have already earned some. Some of you have no idea what I am talking about!

Let me explain CROP CASH a bit. You want to earn as much as you can. At the retreat, there will be an auction every night at 7pm where you can bid on items and pay for them with your CROP CASH! This can get quite crazy! Last year, I saw a paper pack sell for nearly $1,000 in CROP CASH! Can you imagine?

Once you are officially registered (either paid your deposit or your entire crop fee, you need to watch your email and you need to check back here because you never know when (or where) you will be given an opportunity to earn CROP CASH!

And what is really fun is all day and every day (Thurs thru Sat) of the Retreat, you will have opportunities presented to you to earn MORE CROP CASH!

We are even thinking about having a silent auction, but are still working on the details to that one!

So, keep your "E's" (eyes, ears and emails) open for CROP CASH opportunities!!!!
